Dr. Tasker Rodman II
Dr. Rodman was raised in Leachville, Arkansas. After completing his undergraduate work at Hendrix College and Arkansas State University, he enrolled in Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and received his Doctor of Optometry degree in June of 1972. Dr. Rodman moved to Newport, Arkansas immediately after graduation and opened his private primary care optometry practice as an optometric physician. He practiced optometry in Newport for 34 years. While there Dr. Rodman served on all the usual and customary civic, business, and industrial development clubs and committees. Professionally, he is a member of both the American and the Arkansas Optometric Associations. He has served as president of the Arkansas Optometric Association and additionally served on the Board of Directors, the Legal and Legislative Committee, and the Nominating Committee for decades. Dr. Rodman has also served as a Director of SECO INTERNATIONAL – the world’s largest institution for optometric continuing education. In 2008 he was honored with the Arkansas Optometric Association’s Distinguished Service Award “for outstanding service to the Association and the profession of Optometry”. Dr. Rodman is also a Charter Member of the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens Section.
In 2006, Dr. Rodman sold his Newport practice and moved to Little Rock to begin a new optometry business venture - Optometric Opportunities, LLLP. Optometric Opportunities is an optometry business and management vehicle that helps maturing optometrists transition into retirement and newly graduated optometrists transition into, and later own, private primary care optometric practices. Additionally, under the umbrella of Arkansas Family Eyecare, he is majority owner of eight private primary care optometric practices - five in central Arkansas and three in Northwest Arkansas.
In 2017, in order to help optometrists with the ever-expanding governmental administrative requirements of the medical profession, Dr. Rodman’s partner in Optometric Opportunities, and its owner/administrator, Elvisa Gwin, started another optometry business and practice management company, I-Vision Practice Management, LLC. I-Vision has been of immense help to private primary care optometrists by assisting them in the business administration and management of their optometry practices.
Personally, Dr. Rodman’s wife, Mary Lou, and he combined have four children and nine grandchildren. They all reside in Arkansas. Even though he loves his work and is at work almost every day, Mary Lou and he enjoy this latter stage of life and travel as often as his work allows.
